The Mills Fabrica Internship (Summer / Part-time)

Program Feature

The Mills Fabrica runs a startup incubator, a VC investment fund and a co-working space/ lab/ store. The focus area for Fabrica is in “techstyle”- intersection of technology and style (incl. fashion, textiles, wearables/ apparel). The Mills Fabrica’s mission is to create startup success stories and to build a wider community of corporates and organizations to inspire the industry and the next generation for innovation.

Fabrica

  • Events & community activities – supporting on planning, organizing and executing upcoming activities, including inhouse events, students and corporate visits, external showcases (opportunity to attend RISE, the largest startup conference in Asia)
  • Marketing & communications – producing content for press releases, marketing materials, social media platforms, invitations, website, eDM – graphic design knowledge preferred
  • Market Research – helping with day-to-day strategic initiative (i.e. understanding the startup ecosystem / players in HK)
  • Incubation – helping to support portfolio companies, including nurturing relationship with incubatees, monitoring and evaluating incubatees’ progress

Investment

  • Support on the startup investment deals including research & analysis on industry and startups, due diligence, financial modeling and valuation
  • Assist on the transaction from start to closing including meeting the potential investees, drafting investment memo, documentation
  • Perform wider market research & analysis to help with day-to-day strategic initiatives (e.g. understanding the startup ecosystem/players in HK)

Lab

  • Trouble shoot of sewing machines and other lab machinery
  • Support on training sessions for new members, by learning lab technologies
  • Support on lab workshops (material procurement / workshop content / event assistance)
  • Assist on The Mills Fabrica events and activities

Incubation

  • Research and analysis on industry, startups, impact investing: conduct research & analysis on lifestyle sectors of fashion / food space, impact investment & measurement, startup ecosystem, including studying and analyzing market trends / challenges / opportunities, creating surveys to collect data and making recommendations
  • Developing in-house knowledge / expertise tool-kit: produce relevant content and playbooks for startup communities including innovation, sustainability, impact measurement, entrepreneurship skillsets, technical knowledge in fashion / textile / food tech space
  • Producing research pieces and publications: write about insights / key learnings from industry events and experts, assist with marketing plan to launch to the community
  • Supporting engagement and management of incubatees / portfolio companies: help with planning / joining discussions with incubatees / portfolio companies, monitoring and reporting
  • Supporting the team with other ad-hoc duties: help with day-to-day strategic initiatives (e.g. understanding the startup ecosystem / players in HK)

  • Assist in Retail Brand Building
  • Work in various areas of online and offline marketing operations for Store
  • Content creation for social media accounts (Facebook, Website, Instagram)
  • Preparation of marketing reports, account analytics and other performance measurements
  • Conducting market research

  • Photographing and Video editing

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Fabrica

  • Undergraduate students in Marketing, Business Management or related disciplines
  • Experience in graphic design tools (Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator) would be an advantage
  • Love events, outgoing, creative and flexible to work
  • Passionate about the techstyle industry and startup world
  • A good team player, willing to offer advice and support colleagues
  • Hard-working, able to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in both written and spoken English and Chinese

Investment

  • Undergraduate students in Business, Economics, Finance, Data Analytics, Research or related disciplines
  • Good knowledge of financial modelling and data analytical skills will be an advantage
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in both written and spoken English and Chinese

Lab

  • Certificate or above in Fashion / Technology
  • Hands-on skilled person, with interest in fashion and technology
  • Friendly, helpful, confident and engaging personality

Incubation
